FAQS

  • If you are thinking about therapy, then it would probably be a good idea! Everyone can benefit from therapy at some point in their life. Therapy offers you the opportunity for a safe and nonjudgemental space for self-discovery, and everyone deserves this.

  • Here is the typical outline of sessions:

    Step 1

    Schedule a Free Consultation

The first step is to schedule a free consultation where we can determine if we’re a good fit. We’ll talk about what prompted you to seek therapy and about what you hope to achieve in therapy.

    Step 2

    Have Our First Session Together

During our first session, we’ll explore in more detail your journey to therapy. I will do a lot of listening to give you space to share your story.

    Step 3

    Collaborate on Therapy Goals

In our second session, together we’ll create a plan of what you want to achieve during our time together. We’ll discuss some of the roadblocks you may face and strategies to overcome them.

    Step 4

Ongoing Sessions & Goal Check In

In our subsequent sessions, we will continue to work on the goals you created at the beginning of therapy. If new problems arise, we will hold space for those problems, too.

  • As a relational therapist, I meet with my clients on a weekly basis. After we build some momentum, we can discuss decreasing the frequency of sessions based on how you feel you’re progressing.

  • We will determine which therapy type would be best for you after we we discuss your current challenges and identify goals. Most often, I find it beneficial to take an ecclectic approach, meaning I use interventions from various therapy types.

  • I provide a pre-liminary diagnosis for insurance purposes (if applicable), because this is required for services to be covered by insurance. However, I believe that anxiety and depression are nervous system responses that are sometimes a common part of life at some point. I focus on helping clients heal symptoms, rather than pathologize this experience. If it is important to you, we can review the Diagnostic Statistical Manual together, to review criteria and diagnoses that most closely relate to your situation, and determine if additional support is needed.

  • The "No Surprises Act" is a federal law that protects patients from unexpected high medical bills, commonly known as "surprise bills". You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

    • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

    • Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

    • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

    • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.
